Depending on your base pressure, injector size, duty cycle, desired air/fuel ratio, etc, you can get anywhere from 250-350hp with the stock pump. Personally, if you're targeting over 250 wheel hp, I recommend another pump.

no to the stock pump... better safe than sorry. is cheaping out on a 100 dollar fuel pump better than rebuilding your whole motor??? thought so.

I've seen the stock 79lph pumps from regular Civics do over 200hp with stock 43psi fuel pressure. The stock dohc vtec models DO USE a stronger pump. I have a test sheet comparing a Holly (walbro) 255hp pump vs the dohc vtec pump, and it did in the 130's below 55psi IIRC.
The thing with fuel pumps in Hondas is that they are running full-bore all the time. At lower fuel usage, it's just bypassing more. Raising fuel pressure by 7psi will no stress the pump, and not lower it's overall output much at all.
That said, $100 for a pump is decent for piece of mind. I really wouldn't suggest a 255hp because of the noise. At that power level, you aren't using half what it offers. The 190lhp is much quieter, but can handle quite a lot of power. It also doesn't have some issues others have with the 255hp. Mine came with my car, and I believe it was installed 2 owners before me - which was before 2003 or so. I regularly take it below 1/8 a tank w/o any whining or anything from it, and it's daily driven.

I love the noise of a 255. you only really hear it when you first turn the ignition on though, its not like a ap1000.
also don't be a dink and cheap out on a fuel pump, trust me. had a motor go out because of leaning out :/
