question about taking off b-series head.
my friend blew his motor a while back, and i went over there today, and took it out of the car, i was planning on stripping the motor down to the bare block to send to machine shop. but i ddidnt get very far.
i have a d-series, and to remove the cylinder head is very simple, but this is the first b-series ive ever worked on.. do i have to take out the camshafts just to get to the head bolts???
also i was removing the camshaft cover plate things, and i stripped one of the bolts.. and have tried using vise grips, and tried using a torche, but the sucker wont budge, should i just cut it flush, so i can remove the peice? any suggestions??

Use an easy out for the bolt that is stripped. You'll need to get the cam caps off to pull the head so you can get the the head studs.
Think about what you are saying, if you have to pull the cam caps off, how much more effort is it to lift the cams out. And yes, cams must be removed.
