got the swap now i need the little stuff
picked up my complete swap this weekend and my boy is telling me other stuff i should get taken care of while the engine is out. In march, in anticipation of getting a b series engine, i bought a 8lb flywheel and a stage 2 clutch. He said something about some belts that should be changed. I remember timing and i think he said alternator. I wanna keep the ac on the b engine, is that possible? He also said i should change the oil while it's out. I personally was thinking about upgrading to some really good spark plugs and wires. Any tips or anything he forgot to tell me.
if the motor is out and you got the money replace ALL the gaskets oil pan, valve cover, head etc. give it a good tune up plugs, wires dizzy cap and rotor and definitly CHANGE THE OIL that is a must. who knows when and how long ago it was done.
yeh for sure the more u can do with the engine out the better...at the very least i would do the timing belt/water pump as well as a new clutch and flywheel and so on.....if u can afford it go ahead and replace it all that way there are no worries...o and btw, i would use nothing but oem honda
Yeah these guys got it pretty much covered. You could also do little things like cleaning the engine bay and engine itself. It'll make your bay look like art when its all done.
gaskets? will do. I was gonna get a goodyear timing belt cuz they are a name brand. but if oem is better i'll go with the honda. I have a 93 hatch dx is my car already wired for vtec? some say yes some say no. I can't for this engine to dropped in i've saving and planning for over a ayear but something always happens.
your 93 isn't pre-wired, but that isn't all that difficult, also don't forget new water pump and an oem belt will work just fine... good luck
