Default HOW TO CHECK IF ENGINE IS SWAPPED OR NOT

My car went dead on me a couple months ago when I drove through a deep puddle of water in the rain at around 40ish. The dealership diagnosed my car with hydrolock. So they told me the only way to solve the problem was to swap motors. A week later I got my car back and as you can imagine, I was excited ! ! ! SO excited that I forgot to even ask to see my old engine so I could verify that a motor swap did occur. Is there a way I can check to see if the engine I recieved is a new one or the same one ? I heard theres suposed to be codes or number on the engine that supposed to match a number elsewhere in the car or something of that nature. If the numbers/codes don't match up then I guess they really did swap motors. HELP

I actually got the same motor. A stock F22B1 VTEC. When I got it back, it was real DIRTY and had writing in paint. After I cleaned it up and all, it looks exactly the same. IS there a VIN number on the engine or something like that ? IF it does, I can see if it matches my VIN number on the car !? I don't know what to do ! !

i thought vin plates were only on obdII vehicles, so i guess there is a possibility if its a 96+ but, i dont think 94-95 motors will have vin tags

Well I'm going to imagine, if they put in the exact same motor, it'll look alot like the old one ? Just ask the dealership, and if you got your old one, if it's fixed it's fixed right?

Well you have to understand. The shops around here are really shady so Just went to the dealership to get it done right. And you know, HOnda dealership don't drop H22 in Accords for nothing. Besides, I jsut need a car to get me around, not race.

If it had writing on the valve cover that is what is done usually at junk yards. They most likely dropped it in and gave it back to you.

id say your best bet is to try and find the vin other then that your SOL but if its working i understand about the money but it would probably have cost you the same for a rebuild so id just let it go but like others said try and find a vin thats my guess
