Default Discoloured Header (Help)

A good friend of mine has recently offered me a B Series APEXi 4-2-1 Stainless Steel Header that he has recently aquired. However I'm wondering if there is any way to refinish the overal stainless steel appearance of the header, as it looks like there is either alot of dirt, and oil build up, or someone flat out coated it?

I sanded mine with 600 grit, gave it a nice matte finish. If you want yours to bling, get some 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 grit sand paper, some water, and some metal polish.

1.Clean with simple green or other degreaser.
2. sand with 600 till its all clean and no more "coating" is left on it.
3.get 800 grit sand paper wet, and spray header with water, sand the **** outta it.
4.get 1000 grit sandpaper wet, spray header, sand the **** outta it.
5.get 1500 grit sandpaper wet, spray header, sand the **** outta it.

It should be getting shiny by now, but still has a lot of fine scratches, you can stop here, or really make it look nice by buffing it with metal polish.

Now when you install it, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol afterwards to get the residue from your skins oils off of it, otherwise you can get discolored fingerprints on the header.

So sanding it would remove the extremely nasty black build up? Is it maybe possible to get the header hot tanked instead, as I'm already 1 hand short. lol

Sandblasting it would leave pits within the surface of the header.

This is what the old sand and polish method did for my stock engine mounts so it should work on that header. Make sure it's Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1
