pics of my hatch, new turbo install...

not quite done yet...stupid little stuff. this is my first turbo project and have learned a bunch about how NOTHING EVER FITS the way supposed to.
thats why they make hammers.

yes indeed, piping is small 2"1/4..this is a straight up "budget" turbo project, i got most of these pieces from some dude for -real cheap- $20 b/b t3/t4 for example..
ive got no idea what im using for fuel management, weather crome or uber, ive got that vortech, but its not hooked up. im running dsm 440 injectors. i havent really driven it yet. ive got no idea how it runs yet. (hopefully good

thanks for all the replies, and any advise anyone might be willing to share. im trying to keep this very simple...daily driver/beater car.
i actually tow a 4x8 trailer with my bike on the back to the track..so i need some more ummph for the hills

If you run that FMU then put your stock injectors back in. If you use turboedit then pull that FMU out.

so, that fmu is all i will need? please help with engine management ~ like i said before, im keeping this very easy ( i just got a reckless ticket on my bike last week
) so by no means am i trying to have a 10 sec hatch....
thanks for all the help guys!
also, with the whole engine management thing...im a total rookie.
ive searched, but nothing really helps. how about someone just send me a ecu already chipped - that would be great.

If you want a cheap way to get a easy engine managment there is a guy by the name of josheph davis he is one this web site all the time you could ship it to him and tell him how much boost you are running and he could set a good tune!!! also there is a place called true dyno sport in conover north carolina that can do the same thing for about 100.00 but the turbo kit looks good!!! good luck!

If you are wanting to use that FMU, then it is not all you will need. You really would need an inline pump as well because your stock pump most likely would not be able to maintain under boost, the inline pump will solve that problem. While a tuned ECU would be better, the inline pump/FMU and stock injectors will definately get you by.

It's not that simple I (this is definately just my opinion) would rather run an inline pump/FMU than run a "ready made" basemap with the premade fuel curves. You really don't know what your getting, motors vary motor to motor, so a basemap won't always be consistant. Just because it works on one won't mean it will work on another the exact same way.

why do i feel like i have no idea what im doing? (ill just fabricate this kit and slap a turbo on er)...fuel management? what fuel management *punch myself in face*
ill try that with an inline pump, even though im a little weary of that setup...
anybody want some dsm 440 injectors? i already ground down the housing to accept a 14mm injector housing...what a waste of time that was..
thanks again...hopefully i wont be posting another message about how i toasted my engine....

do you think the manufactor of the FMU have anything to do with the relieability of the fmu or would you say every fmu are the same? like blox, vortech, cartech ect. would you say one is better than the other or more relieable under boost?
inline fuel pump, fmu is the way i am going to go and want to make it as safe as possible like the OP and willing to spend the extra money if a better fmu is more relieable and ''safe''

I don't think "brand" has much to do with the quality when looking between Blox and Vortech, the 2 are identical, inside and out. The Cartech is a little different. It has 2 adjustments on it; one for the boost transition and the other for full boost. It makes for a smoother transition overall. The reliability of the 3 I think is equal. FMU's get a bad wrap IMO from misuse, they will work under low boost. But when people start pushing 10-15psi on them and then the FMU fails to work they call it crap. Just know the limits of the parts your using. I'm not saying that an FMU can't fail, any mechanical part can fail, but the odds are slim when used properly.

yea thats what i was thinking, im only looking to run like 5.5lbs of boost so i wont max the fmu out, but yea you do hear alot of people doggin the fmu but there are alot of people who run them with no problems , your right peoples miss use them and then give them a bad wrap
