Default injen intake + k&n filter?

hey, i was looking to pick up a used injen intake and change the filter with a k&n one, is this a good choice considering it would cost roughly $170? how would this setup compare to an aem v2?

i just used the stock plastic one and put a k&N filter on it and its helped out a lot, by helping me accelerate faster and eat up my gas

ive also heard that a pipe is a pipe, but can anyone vouch that an injen pipe is better than an ebay one?

I'm sure it's better quality, but does it really matter to you?

Also, Apex'i power intake filters are the best you can buy as far as air filtration and performance.

i too believe filtration is the key, but how do you explain that an aem v2 sounds like a monster when you mash the gas and you cant even hear a k&n drop-in.

an intake is just a pipe with a filter on the end. They all do the same exact thing. Only thing different with them is the CAI and SRI.

CAI-High end power
SRI-Low end power

No need to spend over $200 for something that a $15 part can do the same as

AEM and Injen put alot of R&D into their products. I think they atleast have a little more quality than those mass produced Ebay intakes.

and u used ur butt dyno to feel this acceleration? thats weird, when i got my intake, headers and exhaust my gas mileage improved. that makes tons more sense.

and yes piping is piping. however.. with ebay. and i had an ebay pipe, there are a few who do run into fittment issues. i now have the injen short ram. i love it.

Ebay is your friend. I got my CAI for 33 shipped, and the filter is better quality than K&N, as it has a hole in the top too....

Exactly. I paid under $70 total (shipped and everything) for a cold-air intake with a true K&N filter. Best dollar per HP.

Metal intakes are no good. The transfer the heat of the engine bay to the moving air inside of it. The best intakes are the plastic Type-S intakes with the Dynamic Chambers from a JDM BB6 Type S Prelude.

The V2 is actually better due to the turbulance area allotted in the piping before hitting the intake plenum so it works as a dual plenum intake system.... very ingenious. As too your cold air question it is an elongated pipe that sits low too the ground and pulls on direct air with no worry of heat exchange at the filter. To avoid engine heat passing through the piping go and buy thermo wrap. used mainly on exhaust manifolds and turbo piping. Hope I was helpfull.
