Default obd1 motor obd2 car SMOG IN AZ?

i have a obd1 b16a with a p30 ecu in my 96 civic, used obd2 harness, throwing knock sensor code...if i get a p28 or get it chipped to ignore the knock sensor, could i get it smogged with the obd1 ecu? or would i need an obd2 ecu? would the obd2 ecu throw codes on an obd1 motor? what im trying to find out is if i will need to change the oil pump and crank sensor to obd2..az is different than ca far as smog goes im pretty sure.

thanks in advance.

Why dont you call or visit a local smog place and find out the exact info you need to know?

I know that in CA, if you own an OBD2 vehicle, there's no way in hell you'll pass using an OBD1 ecu. The OBD2 scanner tool will not communicate with an OBD1 ecu.

An OBD2 ecu will work with an OBD1 engine, throw CEL codes if it's not satisfied about something.

Yes, if you get a P28 or have the P30 ecu reprogrammed with a disabled KS, it won't look for the KS.

about the CKF sensor, check out the CKF bypass trick on my techsite:

if you have an obd2 car they wont run it on the dyno. they plug it in to the port to look for codes.there is no way else they will do it.

you mean, be able to run an OBD1 engine in an OBD2 car w/an OBD2 ecu?

You might be able to get away with this, I don't know for sure, but make sure you have the 2nd 02 in working order, do the CKF trick, and run the OBD2 smog equipment that came with the OBD2 vehicle.
