Confused what to do?
ok so i have a stock 99 ls. 62000k, clean as hell, basically stole the car from the person it was so cheap. but what should i do. money isnt a issue because ihave time to save... i juss need to have a goal, i need to figure out what im saving for. its gonna be a daily driver. My options are... full gsr swap with lsd tranny and minor bolt ons and start to build the gsr from scratch as if it were the original engine, built ls for boost which would handle 7 psi and raise fuh anything else and maybe even an lsd tranny the 1 thing about boost is that i want it to be safe. i dont want to blow my engine or expletive it up thats why i have the other options, or full out type r
also if you think you can give me a price quote on all of these choices thanks

prices anywhere from 1200-6000....your question is way too broad...a turbo setup can be cheap to very expensive and elaborate...get a power goal...

dont forget, he also mentioned gettin a full gsr swap. i'd say...have roughly around...10g's ready whenever u wanna start ur project so u have some left over just incase some **** goes wrong. but yea, your question was too broad

wow there is very obvious and cheap answer for such a stout low milleage ls motor
how bout LS/VTEC make about 180 Whp* thats better than a gsr (note the w)
the conversion cost about 1800-2000 installed
u need
gsr oil pump
golde eagle ls/vtec conversion kit
gsr water pump
gsr timing belt
upper power steerin bracket heads never come with them
and i recomend the b16 head over a gsr head they r more closely realted to the type r and flow more air
and a obd1 p72 with a jumper harness
then get a b16 trans and put a lsd in it and a ls final drive
you will be runnin high 13's and ls vtec can also handle boost
just get that done first and then think about goin turbo from there

ok so lets jus cut out the type r lol and the ls vtec to me is unreliable ive heard of ppl doing it and i dont think it last long. so pretty much between boost and a full gsr swap. ima like 60% gsr 40% boost lol my goal is 300 hp for the most and im lookin to run low 14s i dont mind savin extra money aslong as it would be worth it in the long run... remeba its a daily driver
uhh i have built many ls/vtecs they r 110% reliable the only reason they can ever have problems is when people dont build them correctly
like using the stock ls oil pump which is like 3-5psi less oil pressure than the gsr and trying to cheap out and not buy the golden eagle ls/vtec conversion kit
come on man ur motors perfect for an ls/vtec u only got 61000 its prime
id would be forced to call u an idiot for thinking about rulling out this option as would most others on this forum
i have owned a turboed bone stock ls/vtec with a t3/t4 @ 6psi i was makin about 280hp never had a problem sold it after i put over 12000 miles on it while turboed

Just a stock ls vtec conversion will not give that kind of power. You will need to put some better cams in, some higher compression pistons, and tune it to get that kind of power from an ls vtec.

The B16 does not flow more air and it will yield a lower compression ratio than a GSR head. Just because it is related to a Type R head doesn't make it better than a GSR head.

well das ur just plain wrong b16 will have the exact same compression ratio, and to boot we have put the both the gsr head and the b16 head on the flow bench at headgame in nj and it flowed a solid 3-4 cfms more in each combustion chamber
and yes a b16 ls/vtec will yield about 175-180 hp in STOCK trim. if use b16 pistons atop those ls rods u can get close to 190
well an ls/vtec will most likely cost less than 2k anywhere u have it done
and keep in mind he wants a daily driver turbo cars r far less reliable than n/a. im a full time mechanic and own 2 turbo cars they require alot more tlc to keep them running at there peak performance.
build an ls/vtec and beat the **** out of it ur not gonna have any problems and ur gonna have fun, especially with a lsd

Well since I'm a lazy ***, I only read half the posts.
But I'd probably say, if you got the money,
build the ls block with boost and, get a gsr trans with lsd, or Type-r tranny.
OR, you could just get a k-series and work on it n/a
