Wire harness for aftermarket HU in navi car?
DOes the usual wire harness you get from CC or BB work when installing an aftermarket head unit in a 2003+ navi car or would I need a special harness to install it? If so, what to get & where do I get it?
OIC, get rid of the screen and install the aftermarket HU, have you looked at other options like JL Audio OEM interface... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=94 or do you already have the aftermarket HU?

Get rid of the screen? Why the hell would I get rid of the screen for the navigation system?!
I would install the head unit in the storage area below. I would be using my Pioneer head unit that I'm taking out of my old car.
I'm still looking for an answer to my question folks...

i know metra makes a kit for the replacement dash kit for the pocket underneath. i forgot what the model number is but in that dash kit it also comes with a t-connection for you the radio. i've never put one in with a nav system, but the dash is still functional except for the radio sound. i think it just piggy back the constant 12v, acc wire and ground and reroutes the speaker wires for the new HU.
the part number is:
99-7862 for the dash kit/harness
70-1721T for the wire harness by itself

Yes I believe it does, but your not going to use it that way, because you want to run both the OEM system and your aftermarket HU, you will need to switch the speaker leads between the 2 units, so when you are on the oem system the speakers are wired to it and when you want to play your aftermarket HU the speakers will be connected to it, there are 8 speaker leads to deal with a pos. (+) and neg. (-) for each speaker, so you will need two 4PDT relays and one SPDT relay, you will also need the oem radio harness adpt. plug to plug into the cars harness and the "reverse" harness that plugs into you oem HU/nav. system, using the harnesses will make putting the "switcher" together a lot easier, and you will not need to cut any oem wires.

You can't wire two amps to the speakers, [amp in OEM HU and amp in the aftermarket HU, so you have to install a switch on the speaker wires so only the unit you are using will be connected to the speakers.
The SPDT relay you can get at any car audio shop, or car parts shop, the 4PDT relays may be a little harder, any electronics supply store should have them, they look like this... http://catalog.tycoelectronics...18233 but would be 12VDC.

What about this harness?

That harness gives you an aux input to the oem system it and/or a RCA adpt. like the one below it would allow you to plug your aftermarket HU into the oem systems aux input, [you will not be using the amp in the aftermarket HU] and use it as a "slave' unit. It would save you having to make a speaker switcher.
