Hi guys.

I am a proud owner of a 98" Honda Accord IS. This is the european version so itīs a 4cylinder with 136hp.

Well on to the problem, one day when i came out and started the car the engine noise was much higher than it use to be. The engine had been very quiet and it always impressed me how smooth and quiet it was. Now tough it sounded like a diesel, the pitch was right but amplified.

Next day the noise is gone, going as it always have. Now 4 month later it still change from going perfectly and smooth to sounding like a tractor. The weird thing is that it can change several times on a day, tough never change during the ride but if it stands still for a couple of hours.

It really seems like it should be the exhaust but donīt explain why it keeps flicking from day to day. And i had it in for a exhaust exchange.

Please help me im scared it might be something that might be harmful for the enginge but i have no idea what it could be. Hope you can help me

with the car running like a tractop just listen all around it to find the source of your hi torque noise.
It's hard to help otherwise untill you find the noise.
