Default How hard to change coil on a d16a6?

Does this require special tools or removal of the distributor?

Nope just open the drain bolt and let the oil drain out. Then unscrew the oil filter and replace it. then put the drain bolt back in and fill with oil..

james- i think he was asking about the Coil- the lil doo dad in the dizzy. In response to ur question buddy, you shouldnt need any special tools- in fact i think u can get er out with just a phillips screw driver. should only take a few minutes. there also should be four screws holding the coil to the dizzy- two u can see, but the other two may be hidden behind the dizzy gasket- just pull it off, and you should be able to see them. gl

Yep, it's pretty much just the three screws holding the cap in (phillips screw driver or 8mm socket), then the four phillips head screws holding the ignition coil in, then the two phillips screws holding the +/- wires in.

can you buy coils seperatly? I've asked a couple places around me, and I would have to buy a whole dizzy.

Yes you can buy them separetely. The only thing is sometimes they are expensive (almost as much as a whole dizzy) which is why people probably tell you to just get a new dizzy. But to answer your questions, yes, you can buy just the coil.
