Engine missing at off-idle throttling-- Help plz.
I did a search, and couldnt find any help so....:
The Car:
89 hatchback Si, stock everything. 296,XXX miles. it needs a new clutch. other than that, it's been running fine since i got it last year.
The Problem:
Very recently, like the last couple of weeks, it has been (I THINK) missing or hesitating when i throttle up comming off idle. This is mostly at lower RPM's, speed independent. I thought it was a bad tank of gas, but its been 2 tanks now. I also put in lucas fuel injector cleaner, with no change.
Does anyone know what this is? Bad TPS? clogged ERG? All i want to do is make it to 300,000 before I change the clutch.
thanks in advance

checked all 4 plugs, none look fouled. I'll have to check the 02 later in the weekend. Wouldnt a bad signal from the sensor throw a engine light?
Man, I JUST had that problem!!! When it was revved up past like 3 or 4 grand, it acted fine, right??? BUT getting to 3-4 grand, it felt as if it wanted to stall....
Mine was due to first off, my battery being trashed(leaking acid or something red and gooey like)...then I replaced that and had the problem you described....so I replaced both my battery cable (positive and negative) and also, replaced this grounding strap:

I did'nt think that was the problem, but man, it works great now!
