which oil should I use?? 5w 30 or 10w 30 ??????????????
I am going to be purchasing Redline oil for my RSX-S and I need info as soon as possible. I was wondering if I should use the 5w 30 which comes in the RSX-S from the factory or get 10w 30 like my brother keeps on insisting. My brother owns a 2001 ITR and he says he likes the 10w 30 better.
I live in phoenix, az and he keeps telling me to get 10w 30 because the 5w 30 will burn faster in the hot weather. He says that the 10w 30 will last longer, but my question is should I add the weight to my car? or keep the 5w 30? I race alot and I need something thats going to take the abuse. If you can please give me any information about this as soon as possible, I am purchasing the oil in the morning. thank you ahead of time guys.

its true about the hot weather.. the thinner the oil the better for the cold but it being a bit thicker will do a lot better in the heat, thats why sometimes car manual's tell you to switch around in the summer or winter, but since its summer all year round then i would say 10w30 ..a bit thicker and more protection.
If you own an RSX then it's got low milage. The weather is hot all the time so I would recommend 10w30. The 5w30 is OK but the 10w30 has more viscosity. I don't think 20w40 is necessary at this point were your engine it's still "new".

Why don't you use the viscosity recommended in your owner's manual for the climate conditions in which you live?
