is a VSS required for a non vtec car to run right?
has anyone here had problems with their cars while not having a vss? or driving with a broken one and throwing a code? thanks

When my car was stock,
It constantly threw code #17 for the speed sensor
even though the speedometer worked.
The car ran fine,so I just removed the check engine bulb..
I had to eventually replace the instrument cluster to make
the code go away.

i know my cars alternator goes to 14v @ and above 45mph. back to 12.6v below 45mph.</TD></TR></TABLE>
But that really has nothing to do with the vehicles speedometer/VSS..
The alternators output is being increased/decressed by the engines r.p.m.
