Someone with CTR pistons on a 98 ITR ? Very important.
Hi, there.
I have a B18C6 euro spec, it has the same pistons has the JDM spec, with 11.1 compression.
What can i expect with the CTR 12.1 compression pistons on a ITR ?
Any gains in hp ?
About engine long life, can i expect the same engine life with 12.1 CTR pistons has the 11.1 JDM pistons ?
I´m having a problem with oil burn and i have to change the pistons and the rings.
Do you need to take off the head to put the new pistons or it can be done from the down side of the block ?
Thanks,
Pinota

...go for it... If I remember right, you get higher grade fuel over there anyway... so you will have no reliablity issues and more power... just make sure it is a good install with the rings fitted properly...
Yes, i use the 98 octane fuel, always.
My ITR has 18000 miles, only 4k miles in my hands, the last owner was a calm guy.
Do you thing taht i need to use the oversize 0.20 pistons ot STD ?
About the instalation, canbe work be done from the downside of the engine ?
What´s the main preocupation about the rings install ?
Thanks, i´m really worry about this, cause i´m burning oil a lot.
I´ll, have to decide in the next two days what to do.
Thanks again in advance.

oversize is better IMO if your pulling the engine and sending it to be bored using a good torque plate... otherwise, if your going to use OE bore pistons, make sure the cylinder wall gets a good honing using the suggested pattern...
you have to pull the head to get the pistons out...
the end gaps of the rings need to be "sized" per the manual spec and "clocked" per the same... Don't do it yourself without the Helms manuel and proper tools...

Pistons have to come out thru the top.
I would pull the block and have it honed anyway, but I would highly recommend
going with the .25 oversized pistons. You should be fine with the gas that you
have there, we have no problems with our 92 octane and apparently your 98 is
similar.
