Default HELP!!! audio experts!! Avic-N3 HEEEELLLLP!!!

sorry guys, im freakin out. i just bought an AVIC-N3. ive installed a bunch of radios, so i'm really not worried about puttin the whole thing in. but, i just thought about the e-brake switch that's usually on all nav. systems (the one that shuts the dvd function off, and unfortunately on the N3, also the ability to manipulate the navigation settings). i have, with all my other installs, either simply grounded the wire, or plugged it into the power. so now i do a search on here and on google, and all i find is that either of those MIGHT work, or i have to put a switch in to pulse it 3 times which MIGHT work, or i have to cut a label on the top of the machine and move a switch (oh, said label if cut voids the warrantee) oh, and that MIGHT work as well.

i seriously dont believe someone doesnt know how to disable this function. but i also have a slight feeling that pioneer has finally added the VSS or the GPS signal or the gyroscope that's in it, to also show a vehicle movement signal. which would blow, and most likely cause my cancellation of the order. i really like this machine, but i hate that they locked the navigation manipulation while moving.

thanks for the help

(p.s., its an off road vehicle for all intents and purposes...)

a guy at a local shop, along with other HT members have told me that flipping the switch on the N3 does work...but it also VOIDS the warantee

check out my thread..

it did help very much, thanks a bunch.

now the question is, does anyone know how to get that sticker off of there without tearing it so-as not to void the warrantee?

no seriously tho...

probably that if you paid only 1200 for this unit, you aren't getting any warranty anyway - it's msrp is $1800.

go here, http://www.avic411.com - someone there developed a unit to allow you to bypass without removing any sticker...

yea, it msrp's for 1800, look around the internet for them. not even ebay, like internet retailers. you can get them for 1200 now. which is what i paid for mine, brand spankin new.

im already a member of avic411, i actually found that the other day. the bypass you are referring to is one for the N1, and does not apply to the N3 (from what i've read so far).

the bypass' as of now are as follows:

Avic-N1 : ground the brake cable
Avic-N2 : you have to solder two pins on the bottom of the deck
Avic-N3 : you have to remove the sticker and move the switch

that was what a member on here posted to me, and i have been able to confirm every one on the avic site.

putting mine in sunday, trying to figure out how to heat up and remove the label until then...

Like I said, if you're paying 1200 for a brand new avic n3, chances are that you're not getting a warranty, whether they say you are or not.

Best buy is to ask pioneer whether they are or not

we are working on getting a roll of the void stickers so we can mod them for customers and then replace the jerked sticker with a new one. btw DO NOT solder the N2's, you can get a circuit tracer at radio shack for like $6 that works perfectly.

why not?..if they say you get a 1 year manufacturer's warantee (or whatever it is), then you should have the warantee when you buy the unit...or else it would be false advertisement..right?

Lol. You can believe whatever you want man. The warranty is only valid when purchased from an authorized dealer. Internet dealers (for the most part) are not authorized dealers even though they say they are a lot of the time.

I won't knock the price any day, but I'd rather have a warranty and pay a bit more. If you don't, that's your perogative.

haha this thread is retarded...no more posts on the fact that i didnt get a warantee, or that i didnt get this for 1200, or whatever...

unless the post is pertaining to telling me that you have had a different experience with the N3, let this thread die please...

I find this funny as well. Back @ Db drag finals last year I talk with reps from Pioneer. My concerns were the easy ability to bypass the safety interfaces. As a retailer I HATED loosing sales to other dealers who looked the other way and did it for thier customers when I would'nt. I was asked if I had a fair solution-I responded "make it a simple switch accessable by only opening the unit, but have a security sticker on "warranty void if removed" Also if possible give it a non volitile memory...if the unit needs service a tech can verify if it was bypassed." If bypassed warranty void or it comes back with a bill for "resetting" back to factory settings.

Yeah I know its kinda tough but what are we doing to the industry makes no sense...we give the lawmakers more and more ammunition daily. I'm off my soapbox now.

but really, how comfortable do you really feel having the guy next to you on the way to work ******* with navigation, talking on a cell, drinking coffee and shaving?!?!1

The madness has to end. Last I checked we were supposed to be DRIVING - not catching up on the lastest from blockbuster, having a conversation, etc.

Let the record state that I talk on my cell all the time (I'm in sales, we all do) but there comes a time where the proliferation of in car video is going to start causing a lot of trouble

audioroach, i understand what you are sayin...and as i said, im really not looking to unlock the ability to watch dvd's while the car is moving. i could in all honesty care less, what i wanted was the ability to change navi stuff while driving...

moving along...please let this thread die guys, its over, the thing goes in tomorrow, and ive already gotten the sticker to come up and moved the switch...

thanks for the insite you guys contributed though...
