Car runs like crap after sitting for a month
I own an 86 CRX Si, that used to be my beater car. However, i reciently replaced it with an EG i bought. So the CRX has been just sitting out front of my house for about a month.
Today i figured i should start it up & let it run for a little so the battery doesn't die. It started fine, but it just didn't sound good.
So i drove it for about 5 miles. The whole time it seemed to be misfiring i think. It was doing it throughout the entire rpm range, but especially in low rpms. I would also backfire a little bit too at times.
Why is it doing this? The car never had these problems before & 1 month isn't that long to be sitting for.

you're right it hasnt been sitting that long. Yet it is a pretty old car, im assuming the motor is stock? Either way, maybe change the oil and drive it a bit. Should go away with some driving id think.
yea, i thought it might be something to do with the gas. but i filled the tank to the top before i parked it to avoid condensation. thats all we do with my boat & it sits for way more then a month during the winter & it runs fine when we first start it up.

I'm pretty sure gas composition changes as it sits, just filling it up to the top won't change that. If your spark plugs, belts, etc... are all fine run down the tank a bit and try some of that crappy octane boost for autozone. If you notice a difference you probably just had bad gas

really? well that might be the problem then. i'd like to just drive it around until its empty enough so i can fill the tank again with fresh gas, to see if that the problem. Only real problem is i droped the insurance on the car, because i'm trying to sell it. But it running like **** now isn't a great selling point. I guess all have to drive it or drain it to get this gas out. I did put in some gas stabalizer yesterday, at least that should stop it from getting worse.
