Default sound like a bad ECU or not?

Over the last two days, my car ( 1997 Type-SH ) has been going haywire on me. My electrical system ( meaning things such as my power windows, locks, radio, headlights, etc. ) are perfectly fine.

However, my car started acting wierd one day after I put new spark plugs in it ( factory heat range NGK V-Powers ). At first, the car would constantly die right after turning it over. After starting the car a second time, the car ran perfectly fine. It did this consistently every time I tried to start it... die after turning it over once, run fine after turning it over twice.

Now, the car will not idle at all... it just sputters and sometimes dies. Also, my ATTS light and my ABS light keep coming on and going off. Sometimes, the two lights will come on together, other times just one of the two will come on. Also, the car has not thrown any troublecodes or CHECK ENGINE lights at all. I'm thinking that the ECU might be bad... what do y'all think?

This may be a long shot, but have you had the ignition switch recall done on the car by the Honda dealers for free ? A faulty ignition switch could cause what you are experiencing.

No not at all, the recall still applies on safety grounds, and providing it dosn't show on the dealers records as having been done already, they will do it for you and charge Honda direct.

go to your interior fuse box and look for #14 fuse (ECU/eat ecu). Sounds like you have blown that fuse.

if i remember correctly its a 15amp fuse

really?... would a shorted positive battery cable make that fuse blow? If that fuse were blown, would it keep the ECU from throwing codes?

4) if it was the ignition switch, then all lights will die also with the engine!
5)can also be a faulty rotor is the ignition module.

good luck
(forgive me for my bad english, but i live in the netherlands)

Did you check the gap on the spark plug to check if it was correct? You say its not throwing any CEL or codes, have you plugged it into a obd scanner? Does your CEL light up when you start the car then go away(reason i'm asking is the indicator light may be out) The weird thing is that your ATTS is controled by a different ECU and unless that ECU was fucked as well there shouldn't be a problem with your ATTS... however if you are stuck in limp mode or have your CEL light on your ATTS light will light up soon after. About sequence of wires, it would be kinda hard to mess that up they are all the different lengths that correspond with the correct plug on my h22.. I would have a hard time putting the wires in the wrong order.
Here is what I would do:
1. check spark plug gap and compair it with the plugs that I took out of the car or compair with another stock plug.
2. check spark on each wire ( pull the wire and put a plug in and have your friend turn the car over to check spark)
3. get out the obd scanner and check out what code the ATTS/ABS is giving to see if its related to the problem.

1. Yes, the light bulb is still good... the CHECK ENGINE light comes on and goes off every time I start the car

2. Yes, I gapped the plugs before I installed them

3. Yes Blake ( 98vtec ), all the fuses were good

4. Yes the spark plug wires are back in the right sequence

UPDATE: After putting the car on a lift today, I found a loose wire coming from the ABS control module... I tightened it down again, and the ABS system seems to be fine so far. Also, I found that my catalytic converter was rattling and coming apart. I will be replacing it here in a day or so, and then I'll see if the problem comes back.
