OBD 0 to OBD 1 Questions
I'm about to trade my EG hatch for an EF CRX and I want to use a Z6... I am planning to just buy a harness as they're pretty cheap on Ebay anyway and what could be wrong with a harness beside a plug or something... As long as I switch the harness and ECU and of course the engine everything will work fine right? Am I totally off? I'm kind of an idiot when It comes to the electronics of a car but i'm trying to learn. I've done a KA swap in a 240, and that was relitively easy so I'm not afraid of mechanics of a swap just wiring!! Thanks in advance for all who help...
If you use a complete Z6 harness and ECU, I don't see why you would have any trouble. You could save yourself some money and just use the CRX harness, and add in wires for the O2 sensor and VTEC stuff. It's a pretty easy swap, everything should just bolt up. If the tranny is hydraulic, you will need a hydro/cable conversion to make it work in the CRX.
I thought about using the factory harness and stuff but I just thought it would be just about as simple to go ahead and use the new harness and save a little bit of splicing... Thank you for your help... The harness is on ebay pretty cheap so I figured i'd just grab it if it will work because the EX-Si harness in EG civics will also work with DOHC Vtec engines too and I'm still undecided as to what I want to do. The Z6 will be good cheap swap, but i will eventually want to go with a twin cam engine...
I agree. It is easier to just add plugs to the crx harness than try and use the z6 harness. Plus for the tranny you can use a Crx Si tranny, like I have running mine.
