Default B18A into 89 CRX Si questions

Hi everyone, I'm currently doing an engine swap for a friend and only stumped on the last few details. I've been searching for a few hours now but theres ALOT of different information

The wiring harness is defiently the biggest question... Do I use the D16 Harness with some modifications(which mods exactly have to be done?) or do I use the B18A Harness with the OBD Adapter Plug?

My friend basically went out and found the following parts.

B18A with Cable Tranny, HaSport Mounts, Axles, ECU, OBD Adapter that came out of a swapped CRX. Thats all the info I have for that.

He then found a B18 Harness, As I inspected the harness and started plugging it in to the B engine some things clearly became apparent. The connectors for the injectors are not correct as well as the Alternator which has been hacked for a 4pin design but only 3 wires are connected.

I'm really hoping someone can give some real solid infoon this.

Thanks.

You need to use the D16 harness and modify it to fit the B18, the B18 harness won't plug into the car harness.

By OBD adapter, I assume you mean a jumper harness that goes between the dash harness of the civic?

Sounds to me like you have an OBD1 engine setup, but the B18 harness he got is for an OBD0 setup. There are two ways to solve the issue with the injector plugs not fitting. You can either get and OBD1 B18 engine harness to get the proper connectors from, or you can use the injectors from the D16 and keep the resistor box.

Using the D16 harness should solve the issue with the alternator plug as well.

It's been a while since I did mine, but as far as I remember all you need to do is plug in the connectors that fit, and change to the proper connector for any that don't. That'll be where the B18 donor harness comes in handy. You'll also need to re-pin the distributor plug if the B18 dizzy is in fact ODB1.

Do the injector connectors on the B18 harness match the ones on the D16 harness?

Ok, so more exploring today. Found that the injectors on the B18 that was in a CRX has the same injectors as the D16 (OBD0). The Distributor that came with the engine has the SAME big plug as the D16 however the 2Pin Plug on the B18 Dizzy is rectangle and the D16 is round. However it seems that the BIG round connector has been spliced in.

Is there a Dizzy Pinout thread?

I swapped over the Alternator since the pulley that was on the B18 was "Trimmed" to clear the Frame Rail. Went to the junk yard to pick up a TPS since it broke on engine removal and there isnt a damn TB left on 100 Hondas at the Junk Yard.

Are the TPS the same between D16/B18?

Last question, the Jumper Harness that came with the B18 Engine and ECU, do I use that or the D16 stock ECU?
