Default po420 ej8

so my car is trowing this code right it says catalyst system efficiency below threshold. do you know what that means someone said i need a new cat or my o2 sensor is messed up. i want to hear what you guys say before i do anything and i would like to know if its going to mess it up driving it still. thanks in advance

ok i know its my cat but what does that mean what is it doing to my car is my whole ******* car going to blow up or what im pretty shure that its making it slower because the exaust isnt going out corectly am i right

Yea, your cat isn't flowing enough = clogged. Replace it or look for recalls like I said, it seems to be common, in my area at least.

Take you cat off, gut it, and buy an o2 simulator off of ebay for like $10 and your problem is solved!!!!!!

p0420 means that your ecu is seeing your primary and seconadry o2 sensor switching alike, they are not suppost to, primary o2 should switch quickly and cat moniter should have a slow switch rate. when it sees them switching the same it is because the cat is not operating efficently and will need to be changed so it tosses you a p0420

had the same problem a few weeks ago, I though it was the oxygen sensors but I took the cat off just to inspect and the whole inside of the cat melted and fell apart, it happened because I ran extremely rich for just a few minutes

how bout i just take the cat out all together and get a spoon exaust tip any suggestions on that
