No vtec - Help, I need bOost!!
Alright, basically I've been dealing my vtec cutting in and out on me randomly.
Things that have been tried:
-Codes- I have none.
-Oil/filter change- recently changed the oil and filter, no effect
-Wiring - my wiring was done by Duane from Orlando Honda Acura specialists of Orlando, he's been doing swaps for a very long time and I doubt that's the problem.
-Vtec solenoid - Replaced recently
-Oil pan - Replaced recently.
I'm looking for anything else that could cause it to cut in and out randomly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This is on a b16a in a 90 Civic STD.
Anyone?

Umm, kidding. There was a post a while back from some kid asking what wire to cut to get vtec. One of his requests was: "Help, I need bOost!1`"

i remember reading a post with the same problem and i forget what he ended up doing to fix it but if you say it works for a while then stops maybe your oil is getting hot and thinning out too much and your oil pressure is dropping. i think you need like 20psi for the solenoid to work. maybe im wrong though

This is something I'll have to check. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

sorry man i gotta say it......If you need boost, then get a turbo....VTEC is not boost, it is not the coolest **** on the planet, it is for GAS MILEAGE. And unless you are in it all the time, a non vtec has better bottom end power..
but im not hatin, i do respect the vtec, its just WAY overrated here.
Its much less of a headache to boost a no-tec engine.
I did see that kids post too, man that was great...lol

I had this problem one time and it turned out my distributor was going out. It would hit vtec fine for a while then it would just cut out and studder randomly....try a diff distb if you have one

where do you people come up with this "its easier to boost a non vtec motor" bullshit?

i dont know but its annoying...the vtec head alone you'll probably gain a shitload of power boosted with the flow difference..

Thanks for the help on my issue.. Like I said, I was just kinda making fun of that kid. I don't have any ideas about vtec replacing a method of forced induction.

Hmm, it doesn't stutter. It revs pretty freely, except when I start it up in the morning it tends to bog a little and then work perfectly. So I should check oil pressure, and my dizzy. Any other suggestions?

sorry, didnt mean to get your panties in a wad.....its less complicated to tune a notec vs vtec when boosted. thats all i was getting at.
sorry to thread jack there...

try taking off your vtec solinoid and there should be a little screen in the gasket. make sure that the screen is clean and not clogged.
