Help! Unable to check ignition timing on 1992 accord.
engine is stock 2.2 sohc nonvtec.. i just can't locate any reference points.. plus i can't find the white line.. pulleys seem to have rust around the edge.. i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. unless i'm looking in the wrong place.
what do you mean by access plug? my problem is when i point the timing gun, i'm not able to see any marks on the side, nor white line that would normally appear near or on the pulley

the reason you cannot see any marks on the pulley ,,is because there are no marks on the pulley ..marks on pulley started in 1994 on accords,,
read what Chio said,,, there should be a rubber plug , below the top rad hose between engine and tranny, remove it, start the car and point the timing lite there,, you will see the marks appear
if car had manual tranny, marks are on the flywheel
if AT marks are on the flex plate ..

I think the white mark is supposed to line up with a pin pointer. It's easy to see with a timing light. Does the engine run?
yes, it runs.. i'll give it another shot. i've seen some type of mark move (i have a gun that allows to preset timing) but i couldn't figure out on how to reference any of it.

Set your timing light to 0 and line up the with the red mark.
