Not at all. If you're looking to have fun, go out and have some fun.

not in the least. i can think of a past national champion that used a corvette with an automatic. very consistent launches (especially for Pro Solo events).

depending on the shift points and your system, you may want to leave it in low or put into "S" rather than "D"

Two pedals and two feet. Time to learn left foot braking skills. Go play.

Check out http://www.autox4u.com/schedule.htm for a good listing of events in PA NJ and NY.

Also look at http://www.autocrosssersinc.org and http://www.phillyscca.com/solo2/index.html for clubs that host events near Philly

I kind of want to try an auto for this reason.

I've seen a bone-stock '86 Accord auto sedan do auto-x, and do pretty well for what it was. Guy was having a ball and it sure was entertaining to watch too.

I've been autocrossing my (manual) Integra for 4 years now, and up until this weekend it was the only car I'd ever autocrossed. Last Sat. I went to an Audi event where they had a nice little auto-x course set up and you could drive a bunch of cars, all of which were either autos or DSG (Audi's fantastic paddle-shift auto-manual). I had fun in everything I drove, even the BMW and Volvo SUVs (well, I guess I didn't have fun in the Lexus GX470... that thing was completely hopeless handling-wise). I've driven an auto TSX and it's definitely more fun than at least half the cars I drove at the event. Just go and have some fun!
