Default B16 Users: What header are you using?

I have 90 CRX sitting on H&R sports. I used to have a DC 4-2-1 header and the got trashed from hitting the ground too much. Now I have a DC 4-1 that I got for cheap and its even lower. Its literally about 2 inches off the ground. What header are you guys using to get max performance/ground clearance?

I have some RS*R headers that were formally on the fastest NA road legal civic in New Zealand. It ran a 12.6 at some ungodly speed. I have no idea what effect they will have on power as my car isn't going yet.

4-1 dc sports, my car is lowered and I never ever run into problems with ground clearance. I do have a skid plate welded onto it, but I never really ran into any problems. Ground clearance is about 6 inches I would say.

Good question, I have no idea as its never been on the ground with the headers fitted!!! I have a genuine RHD EF9 so it may be different as I guess hasport mounts place the B series motors in a different place to factory.

yeah with a ebay or name brand 4-2-1 you should be goos to go. but with a 4-1 header there are somtimes problems. and as far as hasport mounts go it sets the motor up farthur and a think a little lower than the stock ef mounts so the hood wont be a problem. i got no name mounts on my car with a b16 and it sits low but then again my car was dropped about an inch or two

Im going to try to find a megan racing. I am lowered on H&R which is supposed to be 1.9" in the front I believe. I have been running the stock shocks for awhile and I pretty sure they are blown. Would new shocks raise it up a bit or does ride height all depend on the springs?

Go to a Metal Fab shop and have them make you a skid plate. It will protect the header. Mine is so flat right now I think its choking the motor. This is the second header I've had on the car. Thefirst was a cheap ebay brand with the skid plate. But when I upgraded to a nice JDM header the skid plate didn't fit and before I knew it the header was flat. I too am looking for a header that doesn't sit so low. I think the DC sports header made for the B16s sit closer to the engine than the b18 designed header. B18s being taller make for taller headers. Most folks like the b18 header for the b16 (Make more power from what I hear.)

DC headers hang low.

I have the stock CTR/96-97 JDM ITR header. I never had any issues on the road.

<--Dropped on Neuspeed sports.

My car was slammed 2.5, now its also slammed and has a wings west body kit so yeah I have to be careful but I still rarely slam into things with the header.

4-1 will always hang low because 4 pipes are crammed under the pan

I'm running the exact same header as you, DC sport type r 4-1, extremely happy with it the past 3 years! But yeah, it's a little close to the ground, but I've never scraped/bottomed out

I think you are exactly right, the headers made for the b16's are not as long, and sit higher, than the headers made for the b18's.

Which is why if you want a 4-1 I think something like AN-R is the way to go.
