Default cam gears arent sitting right

last night i decided to itall the timing belt on my motor and i realized tht when the motor is at TDC and the cams are lock ed into place, my cam gearss are not straight up and down. both of the cams are positioned this way. now i am running an lsvtec with a b16 head, gsr cams, skunk2 cam gears. the oil pump is from a type r integhra, a new ls water pump and the ls crankshaft gear. is this normal? nothing binds up when u rotate the engine and nothing hits, so i dont know what to do. both sit exactly like that and both are pointing the exact same way and direction. is it just the cam gears thats a little odd?

to make sure, stick a long slender rod down cylinder 1 (take spark plug out) and slowlu turn the crank pulley until that rod is up at its HIGHEST point before it moves back down again! then check the cam gears and crank pulley!

When both cam gears are showing at tdc, they will be pointed towards the front of the car a little.

See how they kind of tilt forward, not sure how bad yours are though.

My engine was a bone stock JDM B18C (GSR) anyways my timing marks were off on my engine and my distributor is way advanced for 16 degrees of timing. I have an old thread that I started about it https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1366016

what timing belt are you using? are you sure the motor is at TDC? Im guessing you probably didnt get the motor at TDC before you put the belt on the cam gears

Start over, line up the crank pulley and then the cams. Take the belt off first of course, do it right because you don't want to mess something like that up.

with the valve cover off you can take a dowl and stick it throught the top of the cam holders and into the cam to stop it from turning and keep it on time.then but the bottom crank on tdc(top dead center)

im more worried about that when the cams are locked in place, the gears are cocked forward. like i put allen keys thru the cams and held them in place while we put on the timing belt.
