Default b16a2 in 96 civic wire harness swap??

I have a b16a2 sitting in my garage right now and I'm planning on swapping it on my 96 civic cx. I have all the mounts and brackets, shift linkage, obd2a-obd1 jumper harness, and a obd1 jdm p30 ecu.

I can locally get a 98 civic si/ex harness for cheap would that work for my conversion since vtec, KS, etc is already wired??? and is the distrubutor plugs the same as obd2a and obd2b? I can easily swap the plug off my old d-series to my b16 distributor. Anything else I need to add, shorten, replace on the harness??

Please let me know guys!

you need conversion harness for obd2a. ex harness will work.

so basically if I pick up a 96-98 ex/si harness, I can just plug everything in and just repin the distributor plug since the b16a2 is obd2b and since vtec wiring is already done?? wouldn't this be considered a cheating harness??

No you need a OBd2B to OBD2a harness if you're going B16a2 to OBD2a ecu but since you're using your OBD1, you need the SI (vtec harness) and a OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness.

as stated, I already purchased the "conversion harness" you're talking about. Its a OBD2A-OBD1 jumper harness.

ok, i did the exact same swap. All you need is a 96-98 ex harness. Everything will plug directly up, you do NOT need to repin the distributor. I did not repin the distributor and everything worked fine. Everything will plug up, you may have to extend the vtec wires since the vtec solenoid is located behind the distributor on an ex and its in front of the distributor on the b16, and since the ex harness has the o2 sensor running to the front of the engine you can undo the wire loom and it will give you enough lenght to run it to the back since thats where the 02 sensor is at on the b16. Also the crank fluctuation sensor that is right near the crank pulley will not plug in cause the plug is different, but since you are running the obd1 ecu then you dont have to worry about that cause it doesent look for that sensor. And since your using a 98 ex harness you have the correct conversion harness.

Cliff notes : 98 harness will plug right up and work no repining neccesary few things to extend. You have the correct conversion harness.
