Trying To Get A 1999 Honda Civic Si
Hi,
I'm a design student in WA. I've managed to save up $7000 (thats all I have) and I want to get a '99 Civic Si (preferably Flamenco Black but also like the Electron Blue).
I'm hoping it is a good car, reliable, and clean. For now, I'd like it to have some nice rims; an alarm; maybe some good coilover springs; and a good, loud sound system included.
Everything else can be stock. I am hoping to work on it myself and learn step by step (I've very little knowledge about cars). It really will be my "project", eventually I want to be able to fix up the interior as well enhance the mechanical aspect (motor, tranny, etc, etc).
My question is: Is this too much to ask for (keeping in mind my budget)? I've no idea how much a '99 Civic Si is going for right now, maybe I'm going to have to look into a different car. Thank you for any help/advice.

If you arent against financing one, you could always get a loan and pay the 7k you have towards the loan. 7k dollar down payment means a lower interest rate. Ive seen them go around here for as low as 8 for a higher mileage one, to about 11500 for a clean lower mileage one. Good luck
$7k should be enough to find one with a decent amount of mileage, just hope it doesn't have a slavged title. Here in San Diego 2 out 3 SI's are salvaged. I would advise you to make sure your security setup is dialed before you get ANY modifications. Try searching for security setups on here and I'm sure you'll find a shitload of useful info on alarms, killswitches, autolocks..ect. Good luck with the purchase, and welcome to H-T
thank you. i've been hearing how these get stolen around here quite often (i'm going to school in Seattle), so security is a big concern for me. i'll have a look around.
that should be enough for the car and if the dealer is selling it for like 8 or 9 then you should bargin with him. you have cash so most likely they wont say no.
like they all said 7K will get you a high milage with a clean title, dont plan on having any money for mods though because of the likelihood of not having any left over cash
Make sure you call your insurance agent, I have seen to many people get owned $$$ by buying a car than not being able to afford insurance.

Insurance all depends on age and record. I pay 35 a month for full coverage on my SI. And only 50 a month for full coverage on my 06 WRX. You just have to have the ability to connect your right foot to your brain instead of your *****.
Good luck with your search man.
