6k is kinda high for that mileage TBH. But if you decide to go for it, make sure you either get an alarm or park in a garage.

For some reason, people pay $5-7k for an Si all the time. I think they're kind of overpriced, but they are neat cars. I would say go for it, maybe try to get it for $5000. But beware, the Honda game is addictive and expensive.

THIS.
I have owned both a 100% 99 Si and 00 Si type r head w/ all bolt-ons over the past 5 years. These are very fun cars. The price is not too bad, sure a little high, but talk him down a little. 150k is a lot. Even after having 2, I would spend 6k to have another one.

Yeah, it's funny. I bought my car for $1800, and I've sunk at least $3000 into it and it isn't even swapped or FI. I still love it though, I don't regret it.

it's a Honda. who gives a damn how many miles are on it? i'd be proud to own a honda with 20,000 or 200,000 miles. i'd laugh at others who went through 2 motors in 200,000 while mine has everything original. as long as you take care of it, it'll last forever. like forcefedferio said, if the body is in good shape, then do it!

Re: thinkn about getting into the honda game
btw, i really don't think the mileage is that high. you're right where it should be for an 11yr old car. if you lived in los angeles, that's actually a bit less than normal as we drive 15-20K per year.

150,000 is just getting into the breakin stage of a Honda. If the body is good and you're worried of engine mileage, do a swap. It's cheap to do for Hondas =] (Cheap being relative to actual engine swap costs)

it's not worth swapping the motor though. after the 6K on the car, he'll spend another grand on the motor and he'll be in the same exact spot. if the car is clean in and out, pull the trigger! black SI's are nice. classy honda.

Re: thinkn about getting into the honda game
You shouldn't need to rebuild or swap as long as your buddy took care of it. I have 152k on my D series and it runs like a champ with great compression, not leaks/burns. It was even abused for the first 9 years of its life and not maintained. Luckily I've been caring for it the last four years. And Bs are sturdy motors.

B motors are strong, especially the SI. They will last just as long as a D motor if it's taken care of.
in any case, post pics if you can. now i want to see this car.
