so i am not sure what is wrong with my car, the both coolant hoses both upper and lower feel empty even when the car is hot, hot enough for the fan to turn on but still no coolant flowing through the hoses. is it my thermostat?

is the engine overheating?

did you just change hoses or something?

did you just install the engine?

give us more info as to why you think something is wrong with your hoses...

did you bleed the coolant of air bubbles?

let it run with the cap off until the fan cycles twice, add coolant as necessary..

feel your bottom hose, if its the same temp as your top hose then your t-stat is operating properly...

good luck..

If its a D engine (not sure on others) than theres a bleeder screw on to of the flange where the upper hose meets the engine , start to car and slowly turn it counter clockwise with i think a 12mm wrench. youll see coolant bubble out.
when it solid coolant and no more air bubbling up tighten up the screw.
Hope this helps,
Sean

Took me two days to completely burp my coolant system. I just kept refilling my overflow tank everytime it dropped down. Run it till it heats to proper temp. Let it cool down and, if the fluid level drops add more. It's not the proven method but, it worked.

I did what he did after 2 hours of bleeding it after a full swap was done, including heater core removal. I just kept filling the overflow.

After I had the system filled, I left the cap on. I just kept checking the overflow tank. Still do . Just in case.

Yeah. For a little while, at first. That was when I had the cap off. I ran the car and waited for the coolant to drop in the radiator. After it quit dropping. I replaced the cap and ran it. Then checked the overflow tank. Pretty legnthy process. Make sure the heater is open and sh*t like that.
