Default d16y7???

Hello All,

I have a 98 CX hatchback with a d16y7 motor. I know this motor isn't vtec but is their anything I can do to make it a little quicker. All I have so far is a short ram intake.

it is a bolt on....search for a mini me swap. that is short for vtec head on a non vtec engine. It is not too expensive to do and it will give you a good boost. There is some extra parts you need though

Forced induction is the best/easiest/most cost effective way to get any sizeable horsepower increase out of the D series engines. Either spray it or boost it. You can, however, swap to an EX tranny and intake manifold for a decent increase for not alot of money or skill. Regular bolt-on's really won't get you much and are a waste of money if you ask me.

unless you got the hook up on a trans. An ex tranny is gonna cost you .....if you look on honda tech and put a listing on the Want - TO - Buy tread. There is people out there that have whole mini - me swap kits for around 500 to 600 bucks.
Like i said you need to search for Mini me and you will find info on what you need. I am not sure exactly on everything that you need but i do know you need the vtec head, knock sensor, computer, and have to run some extra wiring. I was search for this topic one time check this out

Deffinetly get a y8 tranny. It WILL make a world of a difference. Even more so than the y8 head.
