Car Alarm - Viper 5000 install - newb to wiring
Okay, since i was put on academic suspension-don't ask long story-my dad had to get another car and i finally got the civic...
but now i'm freakin paranoid that the damn thing will get stolen when i bring it up to my university for next semester...or even from the front of my house!!! (my rear hatch window was stolen, while the car was in front of the house...some *** shot a bb gun through my driverside rear quaterpanel window, and some other *** broke my driverside(roadside) mirror, first time completely tore it of, and the second time the plastic is cracked...)
its an EH3, bone stock.. cept for a new headunit and some speakers - the older one died and killed the speakers...
So now i'm going to attempt to install a viper 5000 into it, with a proximity sensor, and the tilt/motion sensor from dei...
first question is where is the ideal place to put the tilt/motion sensor, i've read that its best to put it above the shock towers...but i only have one sensor.. do you really need more than one tilt sensor?
Since i'm going to be taking apart the car... i also plan on installing keyless entry.. and maybe a ebay power window kit.. tho i don't know how trust-worthy they are...(cause rolling down the passwindow to get some more fresh air in the summer is a b1tch)
--------
the install will be custom....and the wiring done by me with layers of other theft deterrences.. like.. a few kill switches, starter and fuel... and placement in "odd" places...
basically i'm basing my install on a few sites and info i found.. like "need for alarm" and some other guy's kill switch that resets to kill when the power is removed...
---------
i've got it down to this...
viper 5000, proximity sensor, tilt sensor, backup battery, a "few" peizo sirens
spools of wiring... in multiple colors/guages
butt connectors
ring terminals
female/male quick dissconnects
1a diodes
2 lock actuators
2 pulse switches for unlock/lock
2 relays for the power locks
6 relays for secondary layer of kill switches (hidden and alarm controled)
1 relay for remote turn on amps...
1 relay for 3rd layer of always open kill switch
1 pin swtich for hood
am i missing anything? should i add anything?
-------------
wiring doesn't scare me... what scares me is if i do all this.. and afterwards i can't get my car to start... :-(
all the wiring diagrams i've picked up from the12volt.com
The tools i have or am getting, DMM(sears onsale 9.99), crimper (partsexpress), portable heat gun(parts express), crappy *** radioshack soldering iorn (my dads)
materials like wiring, and other things are coming from partsexpress and delcity,
the viper 5000 is from bargains something.. google viper 5000, its in the froogle section.. 179.99 + 20 shipping.. only ppl selling it online..
and sensors, peizo sirens, and backup battery are from ebay
i'm waiting on the sensors and the alarm itself to pick and choose what spools of wiring i should get, the wiring has to atleast match or exceed the gauging of the alarm wiring right?
does anyone know where to get cheaper wiring? 100ft spools of wiring are expensive (when you start buying more than one)... and i don't think i need it all.. and their thrifty spools i think are just too short...
also am i missing anything?

i'll might post some pictures of my install.. but not all.. the point of a "theft detterant" system is to hide all the components away from "prying" eyes...
and make it a bitch for a theif to get the damned car to start...
i know whats the point of protecting a few speakers and a stock car? the eh3 is a good shell, and i plan on putting 2 jlw1v2-10 mated to a RockfordFosgate Punch 3001 or 325.1 and some components (polk db i think) in the front to antoher rockfordfosgate punch 4002 or 450.2, and some custom made panels for the rear speakers (i'll start another thread for those, when i get to them)...
cause now i'm running some cheaper blaupunkt pc 425 or 525-i forget-in the front that i plan on moving into the rear...
the headunit is an alpine cda-9858...

Sounds good dude! But the prox. sensor is not that great in a hard top car. I would just get dei's audio sensor (Provides pre-entry protection by detecting tampering and breaking of vehicle’s glass. Reliable CMOS design with remote microphone analyzes frequency, intensity and timing of intrusion sounds to eliminate false alarms.)( 506T ) Its made to hear any nosie made. For example when the guy shot your window the alarm will go off. Its also only 40 bucks!!
Prox sensor is not that strong if its a hard top. Yes if something goes flying into your car it will go off but there made for convertible cars. I did an install on a 2006 vet and me and the owner stood right next to the car with the top down and nothing happened then when my pen entered the car the alarm went off. Yes you can adjust it but your doors and windows wont let the infared pass through.

i was thinking of gettin the audio sensor.... but some ppl drive by with their subs blaring at night...
i really just wanted a way to detect if someone broke a window and reached in, to try and do a grab and go...
if some one shot my window again.. they might have done it with a drive by... so i don't think i can run outside fast enough to catch em in the act...

Its really good about determining sounds. I have one on my car and at work we got guys that fly by with the subs on or with there exhaust and i only had i go off once. I also do have a prox. sensor because I have the window mod. so in the summer if i open my windows i feel safer. Keep the prox and add a audio sensor and youll sleep better at night!
okay, i'll go looking for one on ebay
now what about the tilt/motion sensor?
how many do you normally install and where do you install it?
