Default Header cracked all the way through. Quick fix?

My cheap ebay header cracked all the way through right at the end. Its right after the o2 sensor and right before the flange that connects to the cat.

I'm going to midas and possibly a tuner shop tomorrow to see if its A) fixable B) how much.

It sounds like absolute crap right now. At idle it sounds nice, and at certain low RPMS, but getting off the gas, wow. Its also really, really loud even at 3-4k rpm. Is there anything I can do right now to quiet it down? A quick fix of some sort? Its pretty embarassing.

I'll have pics within the next half hour.

Weird but most times when the exhaust is loose there the rear section is lower. Try pulling ur cat section down is it realy hard cause it may be putting alot of stress on the joint

I believe you are supposed to have a flex jount there and because you don't thats why it cracked. Either a piece of flex pipe, or you are supposed to have springs on the bolts to allow some movement. You might want to look into getting a flex pipe added to avoid this in the future.

Can anyone guesstimate the price to have it re-welded?

shouldnt cost u more than 25bucks if that. local guys would probably do that for like 10 bucks. oh yeah the flange is installed improperly so its probably why it cracked. ur not suppose to isntall it with just bolts, u need the special spring bolts that will allow the flange to flex around the donut gasket.

Do yourself (And your header) a favor and get rid of that ball joint exhaust for a flex joint. A 10 inch flex joint will cost in the neighborhood of 45-75 dollars and probably another 50-75 for a muffler shop to install it.

But you won't have to worry about a cracked header ever again... Or leaks.

looks like i'm going to have to drop it off at a muffler shop tomorrow.

Will they be able to install this flex joint/flex pipe? It doesnt look like there's any space anywhere.

dont waste money on flex pipe
have it welded back
and switch back to stock spring bolts

So I dropped it off at my local shop. $55.12 later its been "welded really well"

We'll see. I need to pick up some spring bolts asap. The weld has a year warranty, but I know it'll just break in the next weakest spot.

Anyone know where to pick up spring bolts?

Honda. They'll probably bend you over the parts counter for it though.

Why, that was an EXTREMELY easy fix, it was a very clean break. All he needs to do now is get spring bolts and he should be fine.
