I found the site through google. I'll start by saying I'm guily of being an american muscle kind of guy, and yes I own a mustang...lol But it's a v6 vert with an AUOTMATIC that I hate so I might be trading it in this week for the S2000 I found at a dealer...Here's the lowdown...

I'm test driving it this morning (5/16/06) and was wondering, what kind of things should I look for? Any common problems? Also, is there any other things that I should just keep in mind like what to pay?

I got the kbb trade in value for it and it was $14,500 so I'm going to try to get them down to $16k? Anything above that is pushing it for me. Would this be asking to low?

if 16k is pushing it for you... i would look for a differnt car..... maintenance on this car is not cheap.... tires are quite expensive, regular fluid changes... oil every 3k, diff and tranny every 15 k...... yada yada yada.....

either way.... check the tires, and the sizes of the tires.... the rears should be 245's...check the top, make sure there are no holes/wear marks.... check to see if certain things have been fixed that were on the TSB for 00's.... make sure there's no cracks in the plastic window....

 

Maintanance is not the issue =-) 16k is the price I want for me to stay comfortable along with the payments. My father is a senior master mechanic and get cheap parts/fluids usually free, so that's no issue.

I saw it yesturday and I know the fronts were 205's, and the top and minor wear where the frame bars are, but itsnt that normal?

Appriciate the help, didnt know about the tire offset from front to rear...

 

minor top wear around the bars are normal.... put the top halfway up and shine a flash light on it to see if there are any minor holes in certain areas (around the edges).....

tires: fronts will be 205, rears 245...... however if they still have the original stock bridgestone s02's it'll say 225... .. but with 41k miles i doubt it still has the stock s02's....

also check the TSB's... there were a couple for the 00.... tail lights fading to a pinkish color, 2 gear grind.... couple otheres here and there that are very minor...

Theres more stuff done, but just minor upgrades here and there.

If i get aproved for the loan, i should be picking it up this week.
