I am having a problem opening my hood with the inside latch. I pull it and it doesn't release the hood. When I look under the hood, the latch is pulling the cable, just can't figure out why its not releasing the hood. I can release the hood by pulling the cable with a pair of pliers. Do I need a new latch mechanism or cable?

 

It sounds like your cable has stretched. You can replace it with a new one and it should solve your problems.

its not hard at all just a matter of running the cable into the car

 

but yes it sounds to me like the cable is streched...this happens over the years
