act clutch
i have a boosted coupe making 600+ and I blew the clutch up after about 6 passes on 25 inch slicks, lauching @9k. The only reason why I had the 6 puck was b/c I wasnt planning on making the power i am making. In my opinion, go to a twin disk if your planning on making any high whp numbers and if your not try your luck with a 6 puck

i was thinking the twin as well.

Thanks for the info. any suggestions on what brand twin disc to use. Hopefully i will be making at least 500 hp. maybe more if i'm lucky.

Thats probably why you blew the clutch...9k lauches are pretty high.
I probably under estimated the Maxx extreme clutch but i haven't blown mine out yet. If I had a bigger budget I probably would change it out for an Exedy twin but as of right now I'll cross my fingers and see how much more abuse this clutch can take.
With my Maxx extreme clutch set up I'm lauching on the 2 step at 7200 RPM's with 25-8.7-13 M&H, shifting @ 9300 RPM, 1.65 60', 1/8 mile @ 113 MPH and 10.31 in the 1/4 mile @ 146 MPH and I make 787WHP and 535 TQ on a T72 Innovative turbo 38psi. Still getting the suspension and traction issues taken care of.
I think it really depends on your driving technique on how fast your clutch slips. I personally preload the drive-line when I launch.

I made a bunch of 9 second passes with this exact clutch. At this time the car was on Gasoline making 675whp. We used 26x9 inch slicks. Once we went to 28's...I had issues and went to the RPS twin disc which worked awesome.
I have 24" slicks launching at 7000rpm using my 2 step with the actextreme and 6 puck clutch. However i'm just learning stock b16a2 w/10 psi. 270WHP. 60FTS ARE AT 1.72. I have done 25 runs. The clutch is good for what I am using it for. Torque holding power is 400 ftlbs at the crank so I'm safe. What are your plans.

I believe that the torque capacity on the MAXX EXTREME clutch set is 487 FT/lbs at the crank

If you plan on making big power, just buy a good twin disk clutch like Exedy or Tilton. ACT's are good and sorta cheap, but they wear pretty fast on a daily driver. Maybe not so bad for you because its a race only car, but still you cant compare an ACT to a Tilton or Exedy. I went through three ACT Extremes on my car. Now I have an Exedy twin. I will never buy another ACT again. BTW I still have my old ACT clutch and streetlite flywheel if you would like to buy it. I would sell it cheap.

..this weekend at ATCO, we had a brand new ACT six puck in Kory's coupe
and it lasted ONE effin pass! one pass and it was toast. even the guys at the ACT booth saw it and said wtf. So i def. do not recommend a six puck if your makin over 600hp. get that twin disk...
