Default Got an extra SOHC Vtec head at my house...

ok i need some advice. lemme start with saying i own a 00 EX Coupe..doesn't have much done to it just GC Coiloivers KYB AGX Shocks, AEM CAI as the major mods right now. i plan on going SOHC Turbo and i know having this extra head which is actually a d16z6 head laying in my basement. would it hurt my car at all if i have this head built and put it on my car before i turbo it? any ideas what i should do with it? hold it off till i turbo or try and build it now? i mean i can put it together myself i have techs at my job(work at chyrsler as a tech) that can help me put the parts in just not port and polish and whatnot..so i'm asking some advice from you honda heads..any help will be appreciated

just boost on the motor you have. porting the head will give you a little more not a lot especailly when you are boosting. i'd invest in a sleeved block and boost more safely

sleeving the block isnt needed unless he's planning 300+whp. port and polish on a vtec head is going to help, but i doubt unless you are going fully built it will be worth the money. you didnt say what motor you have now, or what not, but you said extra vtec head, so im assuming you are running a y8 or z6, so in that case i say just do the routine maintanence, head gasket, add head studs if you want, compression test, leakdown test. then boost it. and tune.

yes i have a y8 inside my car..so just save that head after i'm boosting right? seeing as i'm N/A right now i won't see a huge power increase which i expected just wanted to know how much it would help me i guess. now is it possilbe to be sohc turbo making decent power and still retain a/c and p/s? i could probably live without p/s but without a/c i don't think i can do hehe..because i see alot of kit's people make themselves and the p/s and a/c are out of the car? i have general knowledge of turbo systems and understand the most important part is the fuel system and the tuning of the car to get it running reliably. i would most likely be looking to make around 250ish-300whp if possible nothing to crazy seeing as this is my daily driver...

300whp on a DD isnt too bad if its tuned correctlly, alot of people tune WOT only, which isnt good for a street driven car. if you do end up using the z6 head you will be increasing the compression ratio a little which isnt always a good thing in a boosted car. and a $1000 port and polish job isnt going go give you but a few HP in the end anyways, so in my opinion its not worth it at all.
