here is what i did it worked in a few minutes. i have all kinds of punches and air hammer this worked easier. i had a 10/32 allen head cap screwbought inch and half long it fits perfectly inside the pin and the head end perctley with the linkage hole. put a punch in the allen head and pound it thru.
ghetto but works.

are you sure you're trying to get the right pin out? the one under that little accordian boot thing. not that pivot that is exposed.

but anyway..it really shouldnt be too difficult, as long as you have a punch (or even a bolt) that is the same diameter as the spring pin. just tappa tappa tappa..but then watch out as it will ping out of there.

go buy this (1/4 hex socket) + a 3lb hammer = out in seconds

pull the tranny with the linkage attached, makes life easier .. put an extension on hex socket and its easy as that ..

go autozone buy some rust remover. spray it on. let it sit for a couple minutes. then if i can remember right it was a 8mm center punch that will get it out with ease.

go to harbor freight or again autozone and buy yourself a set of center punches. harbor freight is going to be cheaper and their products works fine for me. i used to fear taking this out too but after using this method, its a walk in the park.

note: keep Heinz57 input in mind. make sure you hitting out the right bitch pin.

LOL! That is exactly what I use, MINUS the air hammer. I just used a pair of vise grips to hold the punch then I put the punch in the head of the allen screw and hit it with a decently heavy hammer. It comes right out in seconds.

That's why they call it a "b*tch pin"... lol.

My bf found a punch at the used tool store that is the perfect shape to push it out.

Hey, instead of wasting all of you money on an air chissel; simply take a bolt off of your power steering bracket (long bolt with pointed tip) place the tip of the bolt on the pin, give it a few heavy taps with a hammer and out comes the pin (easy free way to do this)...........

Just unbolt it from the shifter, then pull it out that way. I just did it on mine this week.

Well, the bitch pin can be more than a bitch to take out sometimes.

I just replaced my tranny and I could NOT get the pin out. Keep in mind, I've removed a few of these in my recent car work - but not on my current civic hatch. Mine was RUSTED in there, pretty much completely siezed inside. It would not come out.

Just keep in mind that you can drop the tranny without taking the pin out. Just unbolt the shift rod from your shift lever. When the tranny is off it's a lot easier to pound the **** out of the pin.

Just make sure you use the proper sized punch. A bolt will not be as strong.

Also, one last thing. If your bitch pin was as fucked up as mine, you can replace it without ordering it from honda. Just head to home depot and buy a tension pin. I think i got a 1" x 5/16 sized pin - which fit perfectly.
