Default wiring an amp to stock stereo need help!

hey guys im working on my friends ford focus and we are wiring in an amp and speakers to his stock deck, everything is fine, we have a converter kit to RCA etc, but we cant figure out how to get a 'power on lead' for the amp please help! or if there is a way to just have it turn on each time the car turns on, etc.... thanks!

you could tag it off you ingnition wire if neccesary, this way it comes on and off with the ingnition. Or you can grab it off the factory radio ant wire is it has one. Or put it on a switch. "Dei", makes one that automatic, When it sences out put on your speaker leads it turn the amp on. And when there is no signal it turns it off.

Get a wiring diagram for yer car and just look for the 12v acc. wire, that way it'll turn on when your radio turns on, a switch is not a good idea especially if you forget it on. Check out http://www.the12volt.com they might have some info for you
