Default Just got a compression and leakdown test done.

I'm not too psyched or thrilled about getting a compression test and a leakdown test today but the results are in. 200, 200, 180,175. I was happy when they checked the first and second cylinder but i knew it was gonna happen somewhere and it did. I also knew i was burning oil as soon as i saw my mechanic pulled out my spark plugs and it looked wet. Leakdown test also came in, 3%,4%,7%,9%. Mechanic said i have about a year left and recommends me using 3 quarts of 10w-40 royal purple and 1 quart of lucas oil treatment. Inlinefour.com was were i got these test done and also gave me a solution saying that i should fix my bottom end type r piston/rings,bearings,washers, machining, bump up the compression, etc. He gave me a an estimate for about 2 g's to fix everything, this includes machining and other mechanical stuff. Anyone care to give me their opinion about what to do with my car? I'll be on a tight budget by next year and only having to use 2,500 so give me some insights guys. Also can't i just replace the rings and my problem will be solved?

How in the world would he know it have 1 year of life left in the engine, just get forged piston and rod, get the block honed and your good. Might as well get 9:1 compression piston so you can boost it later on

I will be rebuilding my motor this Aug. I am looking at spending $2900 for everything. But I am going with BC4 cams, Buddyclub cam gears, Buddyclub valve train, buddyclub high compression head gasket, CTR pistons, OEM rings, ARP rod bolts, honed and bored, labor on pulling the motor and rebuilding, and tuning my Hondata. Me personally, I would reccomend a full rebuild, just to be on the safe side. And you can do a rebuild for cheaper than what I am doing. Just my 0.02

Edit: I wouldn't reccomend using Lucas oil stabilzer. A friend of mine used this in his '03 GT mustang. After completing the oil change and starting the car he threw 3 rods. Tore the motor apart and found that the Lucas was to think and clogged his oil pump I know people that have used it with no problems, but one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Do yourself a favor and dont put OEM type R stuff in it thats just a waste of money....

Spend the extra and get forged aftermarket... I have seen this mistake made to many times...

u can get a set of type-r pistons w/rings, and wrist pins for a lil over 100 bucks. Arp head studs and oem bearings and a few more parts all together you can get all the parts you need for 700 or less. Also i would have the head disassembled hot tanked and put back together wit new guides and valve seals which might be another 300-400 dollars. So if they do all of that and still only charge you 2000 dollars its a reasonable amount.
