Default longer shifting points?

ok here is situation, my friend has the orig b18c1 in his 98 gs-r, he drove my 95 gs-r and said it felt like it took alot longer to shift, in my car i have jdm b18c block, gsr intake manifold, gsr ecu, and what i thought was gs-r tranny, its the y80 and yes i searched this only to get slapped in the face with all kinds of bs and from people who wanted to know and couldn't find out themselves, apparently iv read this tranny came from ls's, gs-r's, civic si's,, etc etc, why would my car feel like it takes alot longer to shift than his.. could my jdm b18 block have something to do with it? please feel free to comment, if i'm just being a moron and overlooking the obvious, let me know..

Shifting has nothing to do with the block, its all about the tranny, if the tranny is a gsr tranny than check the shifter, ls, gsr and type r shifter are all different, in term of shifting distance.

Have you driven both cars and felt a noticable difference?

Relying on what "friends" say is not really a smart thing to do in the world of cars.

the best way to be sure is to tear open the tranny and measure the gears, otehrewise you just wont be sure

yea i know count the teeth, but quite honestly, i don't car enough to go that far into researching it, he just said, it took alot longer to reach 8k in my car than in his, but supposedly we both have the same tranny, i know for a fact his is gs-r, but its a guessing game of what mine is.

Ah .. how about this ..

Take both cars out and max 3rd or 4th gear, see if they redline at the same speed.
Easiest way to check I would Think.
