Default b16a question

is it nessesary to rebuild your head when blowing a head gasket. Do u have to replace anything besides the gaskets

I would pull it all apart, clean it and take some measurements. Its off the block anyway, you might as well check it. When you blow your head gasket there is always a possibility of engine damage. Coolant is a wonderful thing, but it does not lubricate like oil.

i was planning on pressure testing it to make sure everything is ok, and if it is just leave it like that.peopl are telling me to resurface it too. thanks for the help

Did you figure out what the reason was for the HG blowing in the first place? It may be relevant...

i think the timing was way off , because in the morning when the car was cold it would take me 15-20 cranks to get it started
