Speaker install on 95 Civic.
I have a pair of 5 1/4 Infinity Refrence speakers I want to install in the rear deck of my 95 Civic DX. There are currently no holes or anything back there for speakers, just the wires. When I check through the trunk I can feel there is a circle etching in the boarding where the speakers would go. This wood or cardboard is lined with fabric.
What is the best way to go about installing these speakers? Do I need to remove both the boarding and the fabric or do I leave the farib there covering the speaker?

Normally,on the other side of that should be the metal panel where your speakers mount, did you try taking off your speaker grills? Unless somebody cut that panel out, or you are talkin about a hatch, you should have one too.
If you're talking about a coupe like mines I bought some 5 1/2 I believe fits in okay but holes didn't match up all you have to do is drill new holes in the ones that don't match up..haven't done it yet raining days are here...
The speakers holes wont be a problem, the rear deck of my DX doesnt have any speaker grills and also it is a coupe. It doesnt have anything in the rear deck for speakers when you look at it from the inside. When I look in the trunk I see the area for the speakers but over it is the wooden board. This wooden board is covered with fabric on the inside of the car.
I am curious what is going to happen to the fabric when I cut out the circle outline in the wooden board for my speakers. Do I need to buy speakers grills?

so it doesn't have the oem honda grill? It doesn't have any speaker for the rear deck? "When I look in the trunk I see the area for the speakers but over it is the wooden board" so I take it, it has no speaker/speaker holes right now as you said. And that some one must have covered it up with board and fabric it? Is basically what I got from reading the post.
Well if that's the case then yeah I would go ahead and cut the board to fit the speakers and the fabric I say use a blade or something sharp to cut it enought to just fit the speakers perfectly. But grill wise I guess it's up to you, I mean for me I got some pioneer and they look nice but since I have the oem grill I'll put it under so that broke azz *****z won't see it and try to jack it otherwise I could use the speaker cover/grill from the pioneer but then for me I'll have to re-fabric the thing cuz the oem grill is a bit big. let me know, but that's what my deal is so yeah. good luck
