Default VAFC or SAFC for 98 accord f23????

Which is the proper unit to use..the VAFC or the SAFC for a 98 accord f23???

And is either better that just chipping the ecu...which i am not sure can be done since the car is obd2..

Either of the two will be dynoed and tuned by a performance shop just trying to figure out which is better...and i did research, but nothing was specific enough...thanks for you help techs.

The only difference between the two is that with the V-AFC, you can change the VTEC engagement points.

The only option that you have in modifying the stock ECU is sending it out to JET to have them reprogram it.

It all depends on what you plan to do.

or you could get chrome

or you could get an obd1 civic ecu that was chipped and slotted for hondata or uberdata etc etc etc

It's a bit of a hassle with 6th Gens.

I can only think of a few people that I know of that have switched theirs to OBDI. You will need an OBDI ECU, and an OBDI IACV, which has two wires instead of three that our stock one has.

Also, if you do the swap, you won't be able to pass emissions.

Im assuming your car is vtec as you mentioned the vafc, i would recommend getting you ecu chipped and then get the vafc as well so that you can tune for other mods and tune you vtec increments. What other mods do you have? oh and dont go obd its way to much of a hassle and as was already stated you wont pass emissions with ease

if you have "vtec" on your valve cover get the vafc.

crome or any other rom editer like hondata, neptune, etc.. will require an obd2 to obd1 conversion.

i have the the u-vtec model accord...but i have heard that their is something werid about the 6th gen accords and that the vafc could not function on that model. Soooo...i actually used the safc on my other accord(i also own a 99ex) and now i just want to make sure that i use the correct one, since this accord has a manual trans and more potential than my auto trailer queen....anyhow, i never adjusted the safc on my 99ex since it was just for looks and show...and because what people told me...

My 98 lx has a dc sports 4-2-1 header, full vibrant exhaust system, magnaflow highflo cat, and AEM V2 cold air intake, and also a grounding system. I DEFINTELY plan on turboing this car since i could not turbo the auto, safely without maybe damaging the tranny...so i would like to get the most from the car before the turbo.
My previous daily driver, the eg coupe with a b18b, had a dyno and tuned ecu that worked wonders on the cars potential...so i want to try to do the same for my accord before i turbo it...but i know if i tune the ecu BEFORE the turbo, that would be a problem since i would just have to retune it...so i figured on getting the SAFC or the VAFC which i can always retune, let alone i never knew it was that much of a problem to convert the car to obd1....

I also have the ULEV-VTEC motor (F23A4), and my V-AFC II is up, and running perfectly.

As a side note, I don't recommended an AFC for a turbo setup. The AFC hack has its limits, and you'd be much better off with AEM EMS, GReddy E-Manage, or something else along those lines.

for some reason, my friend had problems tuning his turbo'd D16 in his EG hatch with the greddy e-manage and ended up using a SAFC

afc hack is garbage compared to what is available in this day and age. look into an obd coversion harness and a p28 or p72 ecu and crome pro.
