STOCK TACH - Doesnt Work...? Cluster works, has Voltage - Help *NEED TO GET TUNED!*
In my 88 Crx si, my tachometer no longer works, I had it out last summer and it worked fine, car was stored for a year and now its out, the rest of the cluster works just **** but the tach goes knowwhere
I spliced into it for my shift light before I got the car running, realized the tach wasnt working, so I unconnected the shiftlight and it still doesnt work
The tach wire was never cut, just stripped away the plastic and connected the shiftlight, what would cause this?
When I put the voltmeter on dc I think, im pulling 15.1 volts on the tach blu wire when the car is on, normal?

Just so you know you dont need a tach to tune. The dyno would have a much better tach then yours they read off of.
If you want to make sure its right, find out your tach pin and run a wire straight to the dist.

the datalogging will show your RPM a lot more accurately than the tach will.
An EF use a cable driven pulser unit in the cluster that some times the contacts can get dirty in.
Not my nature to bust *****, but why is this in the 92-00 civic/delsol forum?

you can try cleaning the plugs, you can also try pulling apart the contacts in the pulser unit in the cluster and cleaning them up too.
I am asuming you have not converted to an electrical VSS and you're still running the 88's setup.
