Default manual steering rack question

Does anyone have a 88-91 civic or 91 crx parts car with a manual steering rack? Or possibly a manual steering rack already out of the car?

I need a few dimensions, rack piston end to end, center line of pinion shaft to rack end, etc.

If someone could help me out i would really appreciate it! Please post here or PM me.

Thanks

If you could take a side view picture showing the angle between the mounting surface and the pinion shaft, what would help too

Thanks in advance

alright, i took some measurements. if you need some more, let me know. i have a feeling you will...

the length of the rack is 712mm. id say +/-1mm.

the distance between the two bolt holes is not what you think because the line between the two holes is not normal to the axis of the rack. they are about 96mm apart in the normal distance, and 10mm apart in the rack axis direction. also, the mounting surfaces are not coplanar. i cant measure that with any sense of accuracy honestly.

in the picture, the hole that is behind the rack in the drawings perspective is the one closer to the edge. the distance from the hole to the edge is 40mm along the axis of the rack.

the pinion shaft diameter is 15mm.

let me know if i can help again. what are you trying to accomplish??

thanks! you rock

I am trying to find a manual steering rack that will fit into a 4th gen prelude with minimal modifications. 92+ civics all have it mounted on the firewall, not underneath like on the lude. i converted my ps rack to a manual (sorta) but i still dont like how much center freeplay there is in the rack.

Plus if i can make a civic rack fit i can get the quick ration rack and pinion set from quaife (www.quiafeamerica.com click the suspension link).

This weekend ill be comparing the numbers you gave me to the chasis and ill let you know if its going to work
