Default sk2s2 cams and 2 layer hg

sk2s2 cams in a b16 head on a stock b16 block...the head has been resurfaced...maybe .005 taken off...heres the issue...skunk 2 recommends at least 11:1 CR for these cams and i know im lower than that...so pretty much i want to bump up compression without rebuilding this motor...the block is a 1g b16...i believe 10.2 CR stock...im currently running flat faced valves and the 3 layer oem HG...i figure my best bet is to go with a 2 layer possibly even 1 layer HG to get my CR up to where it needs to be...
i know the sk2s2 cams are a popular choice and im sure someone has done this before...id like to know if im good to go on running a 2 layer hg or if i will run into piston/valve clearance issues...i know people are milling the **** out of these heads...im just not sure if they are doing this in combination with larger cams like these..i figure with the combination of the valves, resurfacing and 2 layer hg i should be right around 11CR...is there any accurate way to determine this without claying the motor??? i figure id ask here first cuz im sure someone has tried it and knows if it works or not without me having to go through all the trouble to clay it...thanks for anyone who took the time to read all my rambling

I have a b18c5 engine and run skunk2 stg2 cams with a 2 layer head gasket and civic type r pistons and had no problems even after adjusting cam gears to +2 intake and -1 exhaust. My head is not milled.

i think with the pr3/p30 pistons you have in there now, you should be fine on valve clearence. imo, to take full advanage of those cams, i would throw some PCT (CTR) pistons in there.

yeah i was thinking clearance would be fine, but didnt wanna risk ruining a head i just dropped a grand into ya know...i bet ctr pistons would make this a real fun motor but im not really trying to rebuild the b16 block...im gonna save up and build me a proper b20...but for the time being i wanna tinker with the b16 a lil..

you don't have to clay the motor

read Tbone's procedure in this thread,

im sure that works....but ill be the first to admit when something is beyond my mechanical abilities...im sure if i sat there for a sec lookin at the motor i could figure it out...but i was lost half the time i was reading that thread...
how much do you think a shop would charge to do that for me???
pretty much i wanna see if i can run the 2 layer even the 1 layer if possible..right now i got the 3 layer oem hg...is it ok to use the same hg just to test the clearance with 2 layers? and then 1 layer? then when i figure out which one to use i can just go get a new hg and install the appropriate layer/s....
im open to any suggestions...

if you have an old gasket, use it for getting the right clearance.
