Default does this look fixable??



theres a small hairline crack on hte exhaust housing...could this be tig welded together?

Personally, I wouldn't try to fix it. I'm not exactly an authority on such things though, so I would get a second opinion from a professional

No. Turbos get hot and they're stress items....i wouldnt trust it.

so i would be better off buying a new exhaust housing? does anybody else had this problem before?

i am sure getting it welded would be fine, as long as whatever caused that crack has been fixed.. whether its heat/stress or however the hell that happened.

i would try anything before replacing it, unless it was completely unsalvagable.. i don't know how much a new housing would cost, but it would be more then taking it down to a shop and getting some "experienced" advice, and maybe fixing it.

You wouldn't believe how common that is though. I bet a LOT of people are driving around with a crack just like that.

spend the money and replace it. Had the same thing happen on my DSM, i didnt fix it and the crack only got bigger. It would be cheaper to get it welded but for the little extra money it is better to just replace it and not worry.

you'd have to put it in a over at 300+ F. and then tig welded it, and then mill it back out to a flat surface.
