yes you can, you need hood, fenders, bumper, grill, headlights, even though i own a 97 if you want that front end just go ahead and buy a 99 00

geeze it was just a question if it will fit or not. because if it does fit then it will save me a lot of money between a 2500 and 5500. i dunno just a thought.

okay, so since none of these guys are really answering you straight out..ill try and be a little more informative. the main differences are that the tailights are different (99-00 = better looking in most opinions), the front bumper, hood, fenders, and headlights are different (99-00 = better looking in most opinions), and the climate controls are different (again better looking in the 99-00)...those are the main noticeable differences, there might be some more but that is all i know of

96-98 front end:

the climate controls are different from 96-98 to 99-00. 96-98 have a cable climate control and 99-00 have electronic. Yes you can change from one to the other

i say this: get a carfax for both cars. remember, just because the carfax comes back clean doesn't mean it wasn't hit. go over each car in person very carefuly. look for welds and body puddy that doesn't look factory. the most obvious place to look is the radiator support area, most cars are hit in the front, and will most likely have damage here. buy whichever one is accident free. if they both are, take the cheaper one. that's more money you can use later.
that's just my opinion

i agree with snail... 3000 dollar difference is well worth taking the cheaper one in all comparable aspects... unless of course the trim levels are different or something or miles are drastically different

No body cares, just get the cheaper car. Fix it up drive it, and maybe put a nice motor in it.
